Expression through written word and illustration has been my safe place since I was tiny.

That, or being embraced by an elderly rescue animal or three.

I used to create worlds and write about them. Now I write about the real world; in particular, my little corner of it, and the alcoves, nooks and crannies of other peoples' worlds that I've been fortunate enough to experience.

Adept at catching curveballs

I've been a young, fit party girl. I've been a struggling 20-something with undiagnosed ADHD and chronic illness. I've been a rescue dog mum, a human mum, a mum to lost babies. I've become disabled, I've survived. I've thrived. Like everyone on this planet, I have stories to tell; and I tell them because my experience could be someone else's solace, their fight, or their survival. Check out some of the things I love to write about below.

Childhood

From being the ‘weird kid’ to struggling with undiagnosed ADHD, my childhood is a font of laughs, embarrassments and small Greek tragedies. It’s a writer’s dream.

Mental Health

Misdiagnosis, anxiety, eating disorders, anxiety, adult ADHD, baby loss, postpartum anxiety, anxiety in motherhood, social anxiety, anxiety in the sheets, anxiety on the streets…

Raising Kids

I only have one, and I only ever will, so I’m trying to do the best ever job. Inevitably, I’m also often failing. I’m a qualified teacher with a specialism in special educational needs, so this is very much a passion for me. Even when it nearly kills me.

Disability, Chronic and Rare Diseases

Step into my museum and peruse my collection of rare and chronic diseases… from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome to endometriosis, being allergic to myself to my battle to find the best gluten free food in the world; I am passionate about raising awareness, saving lives, and bringing some comic relief. No topic is off limits.

Save the Trees, Save the Bees

I’m a loud, proud, tree-hugging vegan who loves to share tofu-crisping techniques, planet-loving tips and tricks for daily living, and my faltering path towards cleaning and greening my routine. Passionate about advocating for our planet and our children.

Dogs.

Pretty much what it says above; I’ll write about, save, fundraise for, tell the stories of and hug any dog who allows it. I’m proud to assist with social media for a selection of dog shelters and charities in my spare time. I adore all animals, not just the canines, and am currently mother to three rescue cats.

I’m a wife, a mother to a wild, incredible 4-year old and a passionate advocate for our planet and everyone on it, whether or not they’re human. I’m learning to live with disability, chronic illness and mental health challenges, and sharing my story is my passion; because I want to write what I needed to read when I felt alone in the world. Animal lover, artist, research-loving geek, hermit; I wear many hats on my ginger head, and I’m always open to a chat or a challenge.
